When I started this blog it was less with the idea of showing what I happened to be shooting that day or that week but to give people an opportunity to see the breadth of my images. Some people only know me for my work in Rwanda for example. Others might be more familiar with some of my work from Europe. It’s funny how people assume that all you do is one thing, though I suppose that is the trend in photography right now.

I love photojournalism because it gives me the opportunity to photograph lots of different people, places and situations. So from now I will try to share at least one photograph a week from my archives. I hope you enjoy!

Ladies [...]]]> Looks like this week’s theme is going to be religion, or at least Christianity. Good Friday is a big deal around here and I had a chance to photograph a Catholic procession here in Barcelona. On Sunday I also went to a pentecostal church which you will see images from later in the week.

On Sunday I attended a debate between the candidates running for mayor of Barcelona. It was in Catalan so I only got bits and pieces but there were a few interesting images to be had.

It took me 1 year, 5 months and 10 days to return to Barcelona.

But I have returned.

It took me 1 year, 5 months and 10 days to return to Barcelona.

But I have returned.

“Haven’t you been saying that for a while now?” Doubters would ask when I told them I was moving here. Timetables shifted, plans were delayed.

But I have returned.

It has been my experience that plans are just that and that reality has a funny way of getting in the way of even the best laid plans. But when I say I’m going to do something I do it. It might take longer than I imagine and be more difficult than I can conceive but I get it done.

So doubters, continue to doubt but look yourself in the mirror and ask yourself: “is this it? Is this what my life is about, how close I will ever come to my dream?”

The answer for me is always no.

It feels good to be back in Berlin, despite the clouds and rain. I’m learning quite a bit about immigration and integration during this trip. I just booked me flight for sunny Barcelona so if nothing else I have that to look forward to. But I am enjoying myself, make no mistake!

It’s that time of year again! I’m off to Europe. First I take Berlin, then I am finally making my way to Barcelona. I’m moving into a new phase of The Europeans, one that will hopefully see me working even harder and moving more quickly. Time, as it always does, will tell. I [...]]]>

I’m moving into a new phase of The Europeans, one that will hopefully see me working even harder and moving more quickly. Time, as it always does, will tell. I have a plan that much I can tell you. How much that has to do with reality I cannot tell you.
