I’m sure some of you must be thinking I’m obsessed with religion by now but I swear it’s not true. It just so happens I’ve been shooting a lot of images on this subject. Well last weekend Diane asked me to be the director of photography on a documentary short she’s been wanting to shoot for a few years now.

In her neighborhood on Manhattan’s Upper West Side there is a man who walks around telling everyone he loves them and Jesus loves them. He sort of chants this as he walks around the area; it’s something he’s done for more than twenty years and several times a day you can hear his haunting voice. So she rented a Canon 5D and I got to try my hand at really doing video for the first time. It was an interesting experience… as time goes on I may post more video…

Some people would find it strange that I am not in New York for the tenth anniversary of September 11th. I don’t. I spent seven straight days photographing the attacks and their aftermath. That was enough for me.

Some people would find it strange that I am not in New York for the tenth anniversary of September 11th. I don’t. I spent seven straight days photographing the attacks and their aftermath. That was enough for me.

What I remember most about that time is how New Yorkers came together and supported one another. We showed that our love for one another was stronger than our fear, at least for a moment.

Ten years later we remember those that we lost and also what we lost as a nation. I believe that we can regain our belief in a world that is not ruled by fear and anger. It will take time and it is far from certain but it is possible.

Where we will be ten years form now? I don’t know. But I hope that it is one in which we see each other with less suspicion and more trust. That would be the best way to honor those we lost.
